About the Day of Cuban Culture.
Today, October 20, the Day of Cuban Culture is celebrated, instituted because it is the date on which for the first time, in 1868 and in the city of Bayamo, recently liberated by Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the National Anthem was sung, composed by Perucho Figueredo and orchestrated by Manuel Muñoz Cedeño.
Dedicated on this occasion to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alicia Alonso, to the 90th anniversary of Omara Portuondo and Alfredo Sosabravo and to the 50th anniversary of the appearance of the character "Elpidio Valdés", creation of the recently deceased Juan Padrón, it is a tribute to all of our writers, artists and all those who contribute to our Culture.
Serve this small photographic sample in recognition of all of them.
